Joint Replacement

Dr. Carstensen is certified in total knee, partial knee, and hip replacement surgeries utilizing The Mako’s robotic-assisted system. Joint replacement surgery is typically recommended for individuals who have joint disease, which can be caused by conditions such as degenerative arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, avascular necrosis, fractures of the femoral neck, or functional deformities of the hip. These conditions can cause significant pain, reduced mobility, and decreased quality of life for patients, and joint replacement surgery can help alleviate these symptoms by replacing the damaged joint with an artificial one. The use of robotic assistance in joint replacement surgery, such as The Mako system, can enhance the precision and accuracy of the procedure, potentially leading to better outcomes and faster recovery times for patients. Patients considering joint replacement surgery should consult with a qualified orthopedic surgeon like Dr. Carstensen to determine if it is the right treatment option for their specific condition and needs.
