Rogers, M.D.

Fellowship Trained Orthopaedic Surgeon

Medical Degree from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine

Orthopaedic Surgery Residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital

Hand & Upper Extremity Fellowship at UAB

Dr. Davis Rogers is a fellowship-trained Orthopaedic surgeon. Although he has experience treating a broad variety of musculoskeletal conditions across the body, his specialties focus on management of the upper extremity, particularly the elbow, wrist, and hand.

Dr. Rogers was born and raised in Jackson, MS. He earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Mississippi, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Physics. He served as the Student Body President, and was awarded the University’s highest academic award, the Taylor Medal, for his academic achievement in Physics. Most importantly, he met his wife, Martha Kaitlyn Coghlan, M.D., while enrolled here. Dr. Coghlan is currently completing her fellowship in Urogynecology at UAB.

Dr. Rogers and his wife moved to Baltimore, MD, for medical school where he completed his Doctorate of Medicine at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He served as the Student Body President as a fourth-year medical student, before continuing his training as an Orthopaedic resident in the Johns Hopkins Hospital. During residency, he was invested in various research topics including fractures of the upper extremity, sports injuries, and even oncology, receiving the Outstanding Chief Resident Research Award. He also served as the Chief Resident of the Department of Orthopaedics and received the Ronald Byank Servant Leadership Award upon graduation. At the culmination of his training, he was inducted into the Johns Hopkins Chapter of the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society for academic achievement.

Following residency, Dr. Rogers was selected to pursue subspecialty training in hand and upper extremity surgery as a fellow at UAB. During this year, he received certification at the Mayo Clinic in microsurgical technique, further developed his clinical focus on all disorders of the hand, wrist, and elbow, and was awarded the Richard Meyer Outstanding Fellow Award for exemplary qualities in leadership, surgical technique, and judgment. Dr. Rogers has a special interest in sports injuries, working with the team physicians for Johns Hopkins football/lacrosse, Navy football, and the athletic departments for University of Alabama, UAB, and Samford throughout his training.

Dr. Rogers believes that hand function is an element that patients closely correlate with their self-identity; restoring this function offers a unique opportunity to better connect with patients and allow them to return to activities that improve their quality of life. In his free time, Dr. Rogers is an avid college football fan, enjoys home improvement projects, and is currently learning how to be a father to his recently born son.
